On Monday afternoon my group had a fieldwork. This fieldwork was not the kind where you go and volunteer, instead, my group and I had a phone call interview. At 1pm we got on the phone with Keli Golf is an American journalist, playwright, and screenwriter. She first came to prominence as a blogger and political commentator during the 2008 election. Keli is also making a documentary about women rights. As a writer, she covers politics and more. She read a lot about politics and women issues. She is an important figure in the reproductive rights eye because she writes and shares with the media issues that sometimes are being hid to benefit women and their rights. 

Keli gave us a political view for women’s reproductive rights, which is very helpful considering what is happening in politics and possibly having Planned Parenthood shut down. We asked Keli a series of questions, and we learned tons of great information. One of my favorite questions that we asked Keli is “What is your take on where we really stand today. On social media so much is written that it is hard to get a firm understanding of the facts?” she responded that she wasn’t a fan of social media. When you think of a journalist, they have to be in the know, someone who wants to hear what people think from their view. But Keli made a very interesting point, she mentioned that she doesn’t like social media because of the false sources. Keli told us how many controversies on social media come from lies, and many people, especially during this election, acted very childishly on social media reacting from rumors. I believe in what Keli shared with us. Interviewing Keli Golf was an honor, but it was also a huge learning experience. I learned that you have to stand up for what you believe in or no one will.
