At the beginning of this fieldwork we thought that Mapping East Harlem’s Health was not going to be relevant to our project. However, later we discovered valuable information and we were able to talk to different experts on our topic. At this fieldwork we began by sitting in on a meeting that explained what they had done. In the meeting different experts talked about how they mapped Harlem and why its neighborhood is not one of the best. In the background and to the side of the speaker there were different maps and statistics being played in a slide. Through these quotes I learned a lot about my topic and why some of these thing were. One of these actually helped me with my PSA idea. This was how in Harlem the diabetes rate is huge. This said to me that poverty doesn’t mean you’re skinny it means that you don’t have enough money to buy the things you need. This can result in diabetes. At this field work my main take away was that poverty comes in many different forms.
