On Thursday, November 19th my group went to the New School. I met Jane, Graham and Maisy at the school. A woman was talking about how climate change is affecting people in poverty the most. After that woman spoke, another woman introduced a few kids who are involved in climate change. One boy named Jefferson wanted to replace all the fossil fuel factories with wind and solar energy. A girl named Amanda was part of an organization led by youth called “IMatter,” they are trying to end the climate change affects within their lifetime. Another boy was part of a different organization working on suing the government because of climate change. After the youth council talked for a while, there was a discussion panel. Maisy asked how they would attract the attention of younger people, since they have the attention of the government (by suing them). They responded by saying that they would try to make climate change education mandatory in all schools. After the panel we coincidentally met Brian Torres. We talked to him about interviewing him later on. After speaking with Brian Torres we asked some of the council members some questions. Lastly, we left the New School.
