Interview with Brian Torres

Interview with Brian Torres. Although we had to reschedule this interview on a very short notice it was a very successful interview for our group. We rescheduled this interview multiple times because of in-convince, but the day of we had to reschedule again because of a mandarin presentation. This lead us to realize we need to be more organized and get into contact with our teachers earlier in advance. We learned many things about Brian’s goal to create a documentary. His documentary is called El Nevada and it is based on a snow peak that is melting. Towards the end of the documentary he shows youth getting involved in changing the outcome of not only this snow peak but our world (being affected by climate change). He came to our school originally knowing nothing about us and he presented his idea as well as interviewing children. We reached out to him and then interviewed him and he also interviewed us. He now wants to interview us for his documentary on our views about climate change. He is hoping this documentary will open the eyes of the public and make them care about climate change. When his group first started getting funds for the documentary they didn’t get a lot and it was very disappointing to them. This showed the, how little the public knew about climate change already. Through the people’s climate march in 2014 and the UN Climate change talks in Paris awareness is being spread about climate change but Brian and his group want to spread even more awareness. Brian says that social media is a very big part of spreading awareness, because so many people use it, tons of people will be seeing posts or hashtags. He says that we can spread awareness by using social media and also educating our friends. Overall we learned a lot about Brian’s mission and learned how we can get involved.
