On November 2nd, my group and I watched a documentary titled Living for 32, directed by Colin Goddard, one of the survivors of the Virgina Tech shooting. Colin Goddard works with the Brady Campaign currently, preventing gun violence around the country. He was in a French class on the fateful day of April 16, 2007. He was shot four times, three in his shoulder and one in his foot. Three out of the four bullets stayed in his body. Goddard made a full recovery, and has worked in the gun violence prevention industry. I was extremely suprised and horrified by the extreme detail that he could go into. It was really revealing, and we got to see what happens in the illegal gun market. The gun show loophole is so astonishingly easy to pass through, you don’t even need ID to buy a gun. I found that the most shocking part of the whole movie. This taught me a lot for the 1st fieldwork. It sort of gave me a basis for working on fieldworks. This taught me the things that I didn’t know and what I could bring up in the interviews to come. This inspired me with ideas to change the gun show loophole. This was a very eye-opening movie, and it revealed a lot of details.
