My group, Sarah Barlow, and I went to Washington square park to talk with strangers about child abuse. We felt that if we could find out what random people thought about child abuse we could understand how the world sees the issue. We asked around 10 people and got mixed results. Some people felt that it was a very pressing issue and needed to be dealt with. Others thought it was just an issue that wouldn’t be stopped. After we asked a couple of questions we showed them some statistics about the issue. After they saw that they were amazed at how terrible child abuse is and how it needs to be stopped. I think that it was very important that my group and I went on this fieldwork. It was interesting to see what people who don’t study the issue think about it.
