On Wednesday, Feb 15th we talked with one of the leaders of the Basketball Program, The City. This program in particular has impacted so many children worldwide. Dave said to us he has had so many people from different countries come to their facilities to bounce a ball and enjoy themselves. The countries he said that the most kids came from were China, Spain, Mexico, and more. Basketball City has also connected with children who have lost their families and don’t have a place to live. Although Basketball City has stayed very humble and kept on doing what they do no matter the publicity, the organization has collaborated with the NBA, including some of the biggest NBA players like LeBron James, Kevin Durant, and Stephen Curry. Dave said to us the worst part of his job was telling kids there wasn’t enough space or that the timing wouldn’t work. But he also said the enjoyment of helping kids achieve their dreams, something he has done for so many, is what makes him stay and love what he does.
