| For my second fieldwork, we watched a documentary called The Phantom. It is about the false imprisonment and killing of Carlos DeLuna. This is a famous case which took place in the 1980’s. Carlos DeLuna was killed with lethal injection in 1989. Carlos DeLuna was falsely convicted with the murder of Ms Lopez. Carlos DeLuna states that it wasn’t him and it was Carlos Hernandez but the police ran a search and claimed that this “Carlos Hernandez” didn’t exist. However he did exist and he was the one behind the killing. Carlos DeLuna went on trial in July, 1983. He was claimed guilty because he had his fingerprints on the murder weapon. For years Carlos DeLuna claimed that he didn’t do it and how he was scared. However, people didn’t believe him until 10 years after he was killed. The police found that Carlos Hernandez is a real person and he was the one who killed Ms. Lopez. This shows how dangerous the death penalty can be if you d o not have all the fact |
