On 3/1, our group sat down with Judge Anna C. Little, an Assistant Chief Immigration Judge under the United States Department of Justice. Judge Little spoke to us about her career, rising through the ranks of the government and operating her own practice. Judge Little also has a very interesting political background as well. Judge Little was originally a member of the republican party, and even ran for congress under that affiliation while operating her practice in New Jersey. She was later appointed to her current position by former president Trump, but then endorsed by the Biden administration. Judge little shared her views on the reasons for the influx of immigrants entering this country, and what happens to them once they arrive here in the United States. Judge Little explained that not everyone can be helped, and in order for the immigrants to stay in the United States, they must go to court and make their case which will try show that the current situation in their country of origin is dire enough to justify them staying in the United States. There are so many of these cases that not all of them can be looked at very closely. Finally, Judge Little told us what she believes immigration will look like in the future, and how she hopes that the legislature surrounding it is more understanding and less harsh.
