What I learned about Social Justice “work” and/or Civil and Human rights “work” from this fieldwork:

Saadiq Bey was a former research associate at Vera Institute of Justice and Youth Diversion & Initiatives in the Brooklyn District Attorney’s Office. We interviewed him on the Criminal Justice System. Saadiq was inspired to become a social justice activist because of his mother and his father. His father was incarcerated at a young age and he remembers not having his father around and seeing other kids like him without their parents. This inspired him to learn about the system and figure out ways to deconstruct it.
