What I did:

What I learned:

What I learned about Social Justice “work” and/or Civil and Human rights “work” from this fieldwork:

I learned a lot from our interview with Reshanda, something that I thought was the most interesting is that she said that the NBA and WNBA should do back to back games. This seems cool already, but there’s more to it. She said if the WNBA game was first and the NBA game was right after, then fans for the NBA game would come early and see the last few minutes of the WNBA game. As NBA fans who aren’t WNBA fans watch the last few minutes of the WNBA game they would see that the WNBA and NBA are the same game of basketball, but just different genders, and you shouldn’t judge the game based on their gender. She also said how if there was more women in broadcasting, then they’ll be able to put out more broadcasting on more channels. If people see the broadcasting they’ll start to grow more towards the WNBA games seeing that they’re similar to the NBA. If this process of broadcasting happens and grows, they wouldn’t be losing money, but making money because people will like the WNBA and watch it more making the channels more money. If more people start watching the game then the players will become more popular like NBA players making them more money and giving them more equality for both men and women. That’s are main goal and the WNBA players main goal too, to become almost equal with the NBA and increase their salary to be almost equal because they deserve it. They deserve the same money for playing the same sport, it’ll just take time for them to get there.
