What I learned about Social Justice “work” and/or Civil and Human rights “work” from this fieldwork:

From the interview, I learned that telemedicine for abortion is very overregulated. For example, medication abortion is the only drug out of the 20,000 the FDA regulates that must be picked up in person from a clinic. Dr. Ushma Upadhyay also explained that shows that women are still using dangerous methods to end their own pregnancies because they are desperate. Abortion is often stigmatized, but it is healthcare and like many issues of social justice, people with fewer resources are at risk for worse outcomes.
