Name: Ryder Freitag
Social Justice Group: Sports, Activism & Race
Date of Fieldwork: November 20, 2018
Name of Organization: Springhill Entertainment
Person (people) with whom I met and their job titles: Jamal Henderson and Ray Hogan
Type of Fieldwork: Interview
What I did:
We had a great call with him. We talked about what Lebron is doing with his school. It was very helpful and we asked a lot of questions. We also asked him his opinion on activism in sports
What I learned:
I learned that the school only accepts 2 through 4th graders. they will be adding a new grade each school year. They started off small and after a few years will become big. I learned that Lebron James works with not only kids but with adults too. Another thing that I learned is that Lebron has other organizations besides his school. He is really taking action.
What I learned about Social Justice “work” and/or Civil and Human rights “work” from this fieldwork:
I learned about how much Lebron James is doing besides basketball. He is really taking action and helping his old town become better. Lebron James is using his social media platform a lot. He is also helping adults get their high school diploma. He is really helping out the community which is what we need in this society.
