Lift Every Vote Fieldwork

Name: Lucia

Social Justice Group: 2018-2019

Date of Fieldwork: October 1, 2018

Name of Organization: Lift Every Vote

Person (people) with whom I met and their job titles: Brigette Olsen, Molly Harris

Type of Fieldwork: Direct Action

What I did:

We wrote postcards to ex-felons in Florida who don’t have the right to vote to tell them to pass Amendment 4.

What I learned:

Amendment 4 will allow 1.5 million ex-felons to be able to vote. This is called re-enfranchisement. It needs 60% of votes to pass. They made the voting times all different in different counties in Florida. Experts think this is because they want to stop certain neighborhoods and groups of people from voting.

What I learned about Social Justice “work” and/or Civil and Human rights “work” from this fieldwork:

They made the voting times all different in different counties in Florida. Experts think this is because they want to stop certain neighborhoods and groups of people from voting.

Lucia

Lucia is an 8th grader at LREI. She chose education and poverty as her social justice project because she strongly believes that any kid, no matter the social class, should have access to education.
