Interviewing Monica from CARE

Name: Milei

Social Justice Group: Women and Education

Date of Fieldwork: December 15, 2017

Name of Organization: CARE

Person (people) with whom I met and their job titles: Monica

Type of Fieldwork: Interview

What I did:

My group and I went to CARE´s organization in Manhattan and we interviewed Monica on what they did as an organization to help girls and women’s education.

What I learned:

Something we learned about our topic was that all over the world many people don´t usually think about girls and womens education mostly because it dose not exactly happen where we are from. But we learned that many girls just do not have the access to some things that we do and that they are forced to work at a young age instead of getting an education.

What I learned about Social Justice “work” and/or Civil and Human rights “work” from this fieldwork:

This made us wonder that it was good to think out of the box sometimes and thing about the cultural differences between us and girls in other countries who are not as lucky. It also made us wonder why the cultural differences are so big and how it might affect us as well. It made us think about this topic more because sometimes people don really think about this topic ever. It definitely made us more aware about what was happening and also made us think about how we could stop and prevent this from keep happening.
