Marching with New Yorkers Against Gun Violence.

Name: Sam

Social Justice Group: Gun Control

Date of Fieldwork: January 20, 2018

Name of Organization: New Yorkers Against Gun Violence

Person (people) with whom I met and their job titles: Rebeca Fisher

Type of Fieldwork: Direct Action

What I did:

We went to the Women’s march in NYC with the organization NYAGV (New Yorkers Against Gun Violence) and met with some very helpful people.

What I learned:

I learned that gun violence and gun control is a topic that fits into a lot of different categories such as things you might not think guns are involved in but in reality there are. This fieldwork was not very much for learning purposes but for getting to meet people who we can then meet and talk to later on through our project.

What I learned about Social Justice “work” and/or Civil and Human rights “work” from this fieldwork:

During our fieldwork, we did get to meet with someone who can talk to our class or we can make an interview with. The march was great opportunity and we meet with some great people.
