During my social justice fieldwork, I met with a man who makes documentaries. We mainly focussed on his work known as From Prison to Home, a documentary about the reintigratio system. We learned about how important and difficult reintegration is for some despite having a support system. For others, the ability to admit they made a mistake is their main focus once they realize they have a problem. Hearing him talk about this film was really intriguing because I had so many about the participants. I saw how humble and contained in the space he was, rather than being all over the place as I usually know him. I heard his tone stay the same rather than changing it too much for his attempts at jokes. This visit was very impactful because it was something that was directly connected to our topic. The documentary also focussed on something that was a main part of our presentation. It was very impactful to meet with him and some of the information he told us about the reintegration system was very impactful to our project.
