On Tuesday, February 7th, we had the fantastic to meet with Jen Foyle the Global Brand President of Aerie. We interviewed her about the #aeriereal campaign for American
Eagle. The campaign is try to show that women are beautiful and every body is beautiful. All the models are diverse and none of them look the same (like they do at other competing brands). Jen shared with us that since the campaign launched, sales has increased too. Which, leads me to think about why other companies are still so stuck on this image of the “ideal woman.” Towards the end of the interview, Jen told us that there was an event at the Aerie Pop Up Shop that night and she would email us the details. At the event, we got to meet so many inspiring women including Iskra Lawrence, Daya, Peyton List and so many more of the Aerie Real models. I was amazed at how kind and confident they all were. Even though they were all in the media spotlight, they were all such genuine people and I had really great conversations with them about confidence and body image. One of the models at the event, Clementine, invited us to join an Aerie focus group. We are currently in contact with her and will attend a meeting on March 13th. Overall, the interview with Jen and the event after were a really amazing experience and I’m so lucky to have met such amazing people.
