Fieldwork 3 interview with Edward Stern 1/10/17

For my third fieldwork, my group had an interview with Edward Stern the founder and owner of EDF (Environmental Defence Fund) which funds social justice originations and helps find problems that people have an idea how to fix it. Some of these organizations help with water pollution. He mostly focuses on the economic issues with water pollution. On this fieldwork, we learned about the fishing industry and how it will fall if water pollution continues. There are hundreds of jobs that depend on fishing and if we pollute the ocean, those jobs and millions of dollars would be lost. So now not only are we experts on the issues of pollution and how we can help, we also know how it’s affecting us economically. He also gave us more organizations to visit that he has funded so that was very helpful.

I am an 8th grader at lrei. for my social justice project I am working on environmental issues, specifically water pollution. I look in on how we throw away thing into the ocean and how our waste gets into the ocean. I am bringing awareness to how we effect our water. I chose this topic because water in 96.5% of the world and we need to take care of it. water is our home and if we pollute it it will effect all of us.
