On December 16th, 2016 Me, Cole, Jack A. and Willem called and interviewed Mr. David Chang, who works at WEACT for Environmental Justice, he specializes on indoor environmental justice. We talked to him about, examples of Environmental Injustice, the Flint Water Crisis and Environmental Injustice in the future. One thing I learned about are superfund sights, superfund sites are dangerous sites, that have contaminants that need to be cleaned up, for example, if a power plant has a leak, it might become a superfund site, then the government will fund the clean up and try to do it to the best of their abilities. We also talked about how the EPA works, he told us that the EPA works differently depending on the government, so when you have a president who wants to change the environment (like Obama) you have a progressive EPA, however when you have someone like Donald Trump who denies climate change you have a more traditional EPA. David also talked about the difference between indoor environmental injustice and normal environmental injustice. Indoor environmental injustice usually centers on indoor environments that have been contaminated, so it makes it difficult to live in safely. For example in some low-income communities in New York, there are buildings with mold and even though the landlords know about it, there is never anyone to remove the mold as it is too expensive. One thing I want to improve on is the way I talk to the interviewee. I want to improve on this because when I listened to the tape again, I realized that I was really just trying to get to the next question instead of building off of what he told us. One thing I think our group will research after this interview is superfund sights because in the book we read over winter break they talk about how superfund sights take to long to get active, so I think we will look for more superfund sights that should have been made a long time ago.
