On Thursday my Social Justice group and I had our first field work, we had an interview with an important person from The Brady Campaign named Kim Russel. We asked her a few questions about her views on the gun issue in the US. She told us many interesting facts but one that stuck with me out of all of them was the fact that a person would get in the same amount of trouble for transporting a chicken across a state border as they would a gun. As well as the staggering facts and numbers that she told us about she told us about her personal story and when she was held at gun point and shot. We had many questions and she was able to answer them all and when we asked her what the Brady Campaign’s main goal was, she said that they were going to cut gun deaths in half by 2025. The interview it self went extremely smoothly, everyone was thinking about questions and I felt very good about it because I was able to ask lots of follow up questions. I felt that there wasn’t anything that went wrong with the interview accept the fact that one of our team members wasn’t there, that would be the only way to make it better. She told us so many interesting things and the information we received will be extremely helpful in the Teach-in.
