Paley Center

On November 28th, my group attended a workshop at the Paley Center for Media. The Paley Center is a nonprofit museum preserving television and radio programs. The workshop we attending was Women and Girls In The Media. We were greeted in the lobby by Rebecca and she took us to a theatre on the second floor. I told the woman a little about our project and we started to talk about what the “ideal woman” is. Afterwards, she told us to keep in mind what we talked about and she showed us a few montages of girls working to look good for someone else, or pretending to be dumb for someone else. I noticed that even in tv, women were only portrayed as the housewife or the mother and not really as an important character. It really stuck with my house women are portrayed as worthless, useless and weak in the media.
