Paul Jeffries, the director of community development for NYCFC (New York City Football Club), came into our school to talk to the grade about what he does. He was Aidhan’s soccer coach at DUSC (Downtown United Soccer Club) previously, and then moved on to work for NYCFC. He told us that he switched jobs because of the three things he loves: children, social justice, and soccer. He knew that NYCFC would offer him all of that. He told us about his job, and what exactly he does. He also gave the whole grade the chance to vote for which of the six cities that NYCFC works with, should get money to help their communities with soccer. The cities were Bandung, New York, Manchester, Mexico City, Melbourne, and Beijing. Whichever city gets the most votes gets 500,000 dollars to fund a sports for kids. He offered our group the chance to sit in on a conference. He gave us a lot of information, and was a huge help. Our group also had to introduce him in front of the grade, teaching us more about speaking for people, and how to do that in the real world.
