Interview with David Ludwig , Head of Community Services at Asphalt Green, 11-21-16

Aidhan, Jack, and I went to the uptown Asphalt Green to meet with the head of community services, David Ludwig. David told us all about what he does, and what it’s like to work at Asphalt Green. He is the Head of Community Services. This visit definitely helped our group. David told us about the many services that Asphalt Green provides. They have a great recess enhancement program that sends coaches to public schools where kids aren’t getting enough exercise, and the coaches teach the kids fun new games. David even said that our group could assist one of the coaches as one of our fieldwork’s. David also showed us around, and we got to see the enormous pool where young kids are taught how to swim. The next step that we want to take as a group is to reach back out to David, and see when we can help coaches teach kids games. David also told us about a program that he started where public schools make soccer teams, and get to play each other. He invited us to see one of the final games. David provided us with a lot of information and a lot of opportunities. Altogether, the whole experience really taught us a lot, and we are glad we got to interview David!

This pool is where kids come during their school day, to take swim lessons at Asphalt Green.

My social justice project is Supporting Kids In Education And In Life Through Sports. Sports are incredible beneficial, and important to physical and mental health. Our group is working with different organizations to try to incorporate more physical activity into a students day.
