Today my group and I held a interview over the phone. We called a man by the name of Nisan Chavkin, the executive director of CRFC for over 20 years,(Constitutional Rights Foundation Chicago.) This is an organization dedicated to the education of students and teachers about their free speech rights and others. He made a few compelling points about how if people are more knowledgeable about their rights, they will be more likely to utilize them during their day to day lives. By educating youth about these rights, when they progress into adulthood, hopefully it will produce the same results. We currently have a large percentile of people who are ignorant and oblivious to what legal arsenal they have available to them. By creating a society that is highly educated on what there legal capabilities are, we could prevent further abuse of those rights and protect them for all americans. I highly agree with him and want to thank him greatly for his time. He made an effort to educate us on a topic that we all found interesting and for that I grant him my best regards.
