Today, January 28th, my group and I traveled to busy crowded wall street to meet with a great first amendment lawyer, Floyd Abrams. Floyd Abrams has done amazing work during his time as a first amendment lawyer, fighting for the New York times on the pentagon papers case which is one of the most memorable supreme court cases. He has made it to the supreme court fifteen times. Abrams brought up about how the first amendment is one of the most difficult topics to study and talk about because the question of limitation. Our country is special in how it allows speech homophobia to blunt racism. Floyd said if the government judged speech is bad and or wrong we might not be left with any speech. Floyd was a pleasure to speak with because he is such an important person in our nations history and we got to speak with him. Thank You Floyd for speaking with us.
