On Thursday, December 10th our group welcomed a representative of Amnesty International to speak to the 7th and 8th grades. Every year Amnesty holds a right for wrights campaign. Every year they choose 12 cases of people internationally and this year is the US who have been stripped of their rights and are imprisoned. They go around schools and communities collecting signatures and encouraging people to write letters on behalf of these 12 cases.
Before having Alex (The representative from Amnesty) come in we talked briefly to the 7th and 8th grades to prep them for his visit. It was a great experience and we eagerly await the updates of who if anyone has been freed from these letters. Also a special thank you from my group and I to Alex for coming in and giving this presentation on short notice.
