Newark

On our recent field work to newark we met up with my uncle Charles Rosen; an owner of a farm supporting recently incarcerated men and women. our first stop was at the Newark conservatory. This organization focused on local farming and helping people learn about fresh and local food. We then got to talk to Charles about how food deserts start an on going chain reaction of poverty and crime that is ultimately, hard to break. We talked about how all that both me and Charels have learned and how we can help to break this cycle. Finally, we visited the amazing food bank of New Jersey. Not only do they provide millions of pounds of food to people each year they also provide cooking classes to help people of all ages gain knowledge on cooking real meals and using locally sourced foods. In all it was an amazing experience and gave the group much knowledge on our topic.
