On November 30 we went to the Robert Gangi’s office. Robert Gangi is the CEO of Prop (Police Reform Organizing Project). His organization exposes discriminatory and abusive practices of the NYPD.f We took the 1 train to 86th street and walked 1 block. When we go to his house he started to talk about his organization and his mission. His organization focuses on the little things in the police system like quota system. The quota system is a system that police officers have to follow. Police departments require officers to deliver a set number of tickets or arrests. A couple of things that they do are court monitoring and going to precincts. Court monitoring is when you to a court and look at cases in order for you to learn about how the police system is so corrupt. During our talk, we asked him a lot of questions such as what are ways that we can improve police brutality? He told us that we had to be an activist. Ways to spread a word is that we can protest, tell family and friends and by sharing their petitions. We also discussed about how young men black men are targeted, where there is a high crime rate in New York City and how the police system is corrupt.
