My group recently went to speak with Robert Gangi who is the founder of PROP(Police Reform Organizing Project). He explained to us mainly about what his organization does and how we could help out if we wanted to. He explained to us that PROP tries to make people more aware of the police’s actions and educate people to understand why they act like this. His intern also gave us an extensive background about what she does. The both also informed us on a court monitoring session that they do every week I believe. The volunteers would go into the court, watch and record each case. We were thinking of volunteering to do this and this meeting was very helpful. The point of this would be to track the police’s arrests and see which race gets arrested more. Most people already know that many blacks are arrested for absolutely no reason whatsoever except racial profiling. This country was built on a democracy and that guarantees everyone their rights. No matter what color or race. The fight for equality for all races is still going on. Many blacks and immigrants are constantly treated like garbage and that is not right. I am one of the many people who want to make a difference.
