For my third fieldwork my group went to a food pantry called Xavier mission. During our time there we washed containers, cut pastries and organized food. We also met some interesting people who were volunteering with us. After we did that we took boxes and made them flat. It was very hard to do because the boxes ranged from small to large, big to small and many other variations. The food pantry was very big and there were tables for each volunteer person or group. At the tables you would do your job which would help benefit those in need. We weren’t able to hand out food to the families in need however, we were able to help prepare other volunteers for handing out the food. I really enjoyed volunteering at Xavier mission pantry and preparing food for those in poverty who are in a radius of 15 blocks. I learned that thousands of families below the poverty line come to Xavier Masson food pantry a day. Also around 30-60 people volunteer every time there is a food pantry. Since we had limited time at the food pantries we had a couple of questions: How many people came to Xavier? How long would the food given to them last? Is everyone allowed in Xavier, or just certain people? We also had some questions about our topic from this fieldwork. How long did this amount of food last for a family, and how can they make it last as long as possible?
