On December 3rd my group and I went to a special puppet show presented by CAPP. It was at the school PS 506 where two people who have been trained by CAPP to go out and work at schools and demonstrate why child abuse is wrong. Before starting the actual show the two workers will run through what a safe touch and an unsafe touch is and what to do when that happens. They also go through their rules where kids are only supposed to raise their hand when they say it’s ok. Then they stat the puppet show. It’s a funny show that has funny jokes but it also is very informative. They brake down the whole scenario when child abuse is happening. They demonstrate all the types of child abuse and how they all are the same and how there all wrong. After the display they will run over what to do in a situation. After they are done they tell the children that if they feel that something is wrong at home then they will meet with them. A fair amount of kids went to talk to the the two workers and after were sent back to class. If there was any serious matter with the kids then the person who interviewed them would call the principle and later the family. It was very interesting to see one of these shows in person. We had been working with CAPP for a while and now we finally got to see what it and what it’s like. This was a great experience for my group and I and we really cherish the fact that Mrs. Marion White could organize this for us.
