My social justice group and I recently went to the Greenburger center to ask some followup questions from the Mass Incarceration Speaker Series, as well as the Center’s opinion of youth incarceration, as the speaker series was primarily bases on, guess what… Mass Incarceration. We walked to the Greeburger Center, where we met Cheryl Roberts, head of the Greenburger Center, in person. As was stated in earlier posts, the Greenburger Center look to reform the Justice System in New York State, because they feel that there are flaws involving their decisions , we learned that one alternative solution they are working towards for those mentally ill criminals is providing them a safe and secure psychiatric reform center. This center would be for those who have been imprisoned, but their mental illness might have had something to do with it. And when asked whether or not she would recommend a similar program for incarcerated youth who need help, she said yes. This is very similar to what Saddiq Bey and Ismael Nazario both agreed on (in their separate interviews, of course). It seems that this is a very common solution between experts.
