The speakers talked to us about the U.S. having only 5% of the world’s population, yet we have 25% of the worlds incarcerated. The speakers talked about how we as a country need to try to help stop people from reoffending, for around 80% of the people who are released from prison go back. Many people each year are also wrongfully incarcerated and we need to work on trying to get them out. It costs $168,000 per year to keep someone in prison, which comes from the tax payers wallets. The prison system needs to change, and we are going to be the ones who need to change it.
