Ms. Lauren Mucciolo came to speak to our grade about her documentary, and the information in it. The goal of this fieldwork was to educate the grade about the issue this movie addressed, which was the hardships facing children in poverty. I feel that we did accomplish the goal we had and that in addition to watching the movie having Lauren come to speak helped educate the 8th grade. I learned a lot about our topic. I learned about how difficult it is for a family to survive even if they do have a house and food to eat. There is usually more to the picture, the house leaks and has no furniture inside. The food is not the healthiest and there isn’t enough of it. These are the things people overlook about people in poverty. I learned more about the ongoing cycle of poverty. The information from this visit impacted me in that I know more about our topic. In addition, I feel as though I want to make a difference in what happens to these kids in the movie and kids like them everywhere. On this visit I did particularly well with asking questions to Lauren and I think that our whole group did a good job at making Lauren feel welcome. For the next fieldwork I would like to do a better job of helping with preparations.
