Today we had Charles King came in to speak to our class. Charles King is the founder and director of Housing Works. Housing Works is a organization that helps with the housing of LGBTQ people. Charles King has worked to do his part in social justice himself; he has actually come to talk the past grades for LGBTQ projects as well. Right now Mr King is working as successful businessman running all of the Housing Works locations around the city.
Charles King talked about his life story and how he came so interested in the problems remaining around LGBTQ people. We prepared questions to ask him just in case he didn’t have anything to say or of the class didn’t have questions but we didn’t really need them. Our class seemed really interested in what Charles had to say so they asked a lot of questions.
I think the class visit went really well. Maybe something we could have done better is talked to him before he came to talk to the class. We didn’t really know what he was going to talk about, it ended up going well but in the future we should probably tell ask the person what they want to talk about.
My group an I are looking forward to going to help at the Housing Works Book Store as a field work!
