On Wednesday, November 20th, my group visited and interviewed Kristin Pulkinnen, a woman who works at the Innocence Project, specifically on fundraising. We asked quite a few questions, she told us the basic idea of the project, the process of taking a case, and even gave us a tour of the offices. We would like to continue to speak with them, and maybe have a fundraiser for this organization. For those of you who do not know, the Innocence Project is an organization that uses DNA evidence to free people who were wrongly imprisoned; they do this because that evidence may not have been available to these people when they were first imprisoned. The organization only takes cases involving DNA evidence but will help others by showing the cases to other organizations or lawyers. They started out as just a professor and a few students trying to do the right thing, and now they are a much larger organization and the founding member of the Innocence Network, a group of similar organizations around the country.
