Homes for the Homeless

In late November, our group went to Homes for the Homeless. Homes for the Homeless is a homeless shelter. When we were there, we did arts and crafts with little kids who live there. It was a very unique experience. We sat next to them and helped them make turkey napkin holders and coasters. These kids were very sweet, and no one could have possibly guessed that they were from a homeless shelter. This proves that the stereotypes about people living in homeless shelters are all wrong. People think that people living in homeless shelters are very different from everyone else. The only difference about them is that they live in a shelter. All of the kids were energetic and friendly. This fieldwork was very hands on, and it taught us about people living in homeless shelters. After working with these kids, we were inspired to go out and tell people that kids living in homeless shelters are no different than kids who aren’t. Working with the kids was fun. We made them thanksgiving decorations, and talked to them. Overall, this experience was enjoyable because we made kids (who are bullied in school) have a good time.
