- I liked this picture because it is encouraging, and so different from youth incarceration.
- Whenever a child staying in the Boys Town house goes to court, they have to put all of their belongings in a bag. This is because if their case is overturned or if they are sentenced, the child will return to quickly pick up their bag.
- This is the weekday schedual for a kid living in Boys Town. Jim SaintGermain was giving us this tour. He had actually been detained here as a youth, but only for a few months at most. This is a temporary facility, that means that it is for kids who are waiting for their cases to be heard. Kids do not serve out their sentences in this building.
- Menu for the week!
- Blurry picture of the kitchen and beyond it is the dining room table. This Boys Town building is meant to house a maximum of 13 boys at once.
- Half of the TV/living room space. This is where the kids spend most of their time.
- Other half of the TV room.
- One of the rooms where the boys stay.
- A different room that the boys stay in. If you look above the head of the bed, there is a small white erase board. Its purpose is to give the boys something to write or draw on instead of using the walls to graffiti.
- This is the backyard where the boys and staff play basketball when the weather is warm. Jim told us that the hoop is broken so they have not played in a while.
- In the center of this rug was the man who started the Boys Town organization. Now the organization has buildings in America, Asia and South Africa.
