On Saturday my Poverty Social Justice Group and I embarked on a field work to LREI where we would work with the Go Project. We mainly went there for a orientation to the organization so we can learn more about what they do. We listened in on some classes and i particularly listened to a second grade class. It didn’t seem like that poverty was a major factor in these children’s life, it may have been for some, but it mostly seemed like the children just struggled at school. As a group we toured the classrooms and talked to the Head of the organization, Olivia Nunez. I felt that this was a wonderful experience, even though we didn’t get to work with the kids, we got to learn about what the Go Project did in whole. I learned that the Go Project helps with both impoverished kids as well as educationally struggling kids. They work with children who live below 14th street in Manhattan to help with kids in school and at homes when they may be struggling in income. Overall this was a great field work and my group and I loved touring the organization.
