Hi, this is Sarah. On Monday, November 12th, my social justice group and I were given the opportunity to visit the Wat-aah offices. Wat-aah is a company that we have been communicating with. It was beyond exciting to visit. They focus on health and they want to prevent childhood obesity by stopping all the kids from drinking soda, but encouraging them to drink more water. It’s a perfect organization for us. Our goal when we visited was to really learn about the company and see what we could do to help out. We learned so much and Rose, Christine and all the others really made us feel important. We commented on how you never see crazy cool water commercials, like you see for coke and Pepsi and other sodas. You don’t see a Poland spring commercial with Britney Spears. I thought this was interesting. It sets the idea that water is boring – soda is fun and exciting. Wat-aah focuses on making water cool and exciting. A statistic Rose mentioned that struck me was that this generations kids aren’t living as long. We need to stop this and move forward and have longer lives, not shorter! It’s interested how we have branched into water and I want to maybe get into dehydration and people all over the world struggle with having no water or clean water. I want to help with that. I think I participated a lot in the discussion at Wat-aah so I was happy about that. Next time, I want to ask more useful questions so maybe I’ll write them beforehand.
