As many of you know, global warming is an issue many people believe to be very serious. Those who believe in it think that the harms it would cause to this planet will be catastrophic. Some people think that ice melting, coral reefs dying, the water levels rising, and the temperature getting hotter are all happening because of global warming and climate change. Some people believe that major companies and factories are contributing a lot to C02 emissions. When big companies use lots of gas or oil it is believed to harm the environment greatly. However, global warming in the future would be hurting these companies in a major way. Their costs would increase by a lot because of things like stricter rules relating to things that negatively impact the environment, or extreme weather conditions that no longer allow something to work at its full ability in the area it’s in. It is estimated with data from 215 of the worlds biggest companies that together their costs would increase by approximately 1 trillion US dollars. This would be a major hit to the companies. But, it’s themselves creating a big part of the issue. Now, many companies are having to think about how they can operate differently to stop damaging the environment in order to thrive in the future.

Many other people are finding themselves in a similar predicament. They are aware that many beautiful places are dying, and won’t be around for much longer. So, they want to go see it before it’s gone. Many of these people have to take a car, plane, or other forms of transportation to get there. But, these are thought to be leading causes of global warming. So now they must ask themselves the question, should we go before it’s too late? Or should we take a risk and really try to solve the problem before it can happen? Especially in a limited amount of time, many people are choosing not to take the risk. But in order to create a bigger difference, many believe large numbers of people should be preparing and taking caution in their lives as well.

There are many things you can do to help. For example, this week I am trying to be completely (disposable) plastic free. I am bringing a reusable bottle with me, and am avoiding buying plastic bags. After this week I would like this to be something I incorporate into my daily life and continue for a lot of my future. You can try this, or even smaller things like turning off the sink while you are brushing your teeth. There are so many things you can do to help, and even actions that don’t seem like a lot can make a big difference!
