Our social justice group got the amazing opportunity to speak outside city hall in front of reporters for major news networks and very important politicians. The goal of the field work was to get as many new contacts as possible and to speak in front of many people. From this trip, I learned how big our subject truly is. We heard many people speak about their connections to gun violence and why they think that fixing the gun laws is important. After we spoke, we met with many specialists, including Letitia James, our Public Advocate and Leah Gunn, a gun law activist. To follow up on this fieldwork, we contacted them both. The most surprising thing was the amount of people who wanted to hear us and help us. We learned that our subject is a huge issue that many people are trying to address.
