FOREST OF WONDERS

The book I read over the summer is called The Forest of Wonders. The author of my book is named Linda Sue Parks. My book takes place in two main places, Gilden and The Commons. The two main characters are Raffa (an apothecary prodigy) and a talking bat named Echo. The main problem is that Raffa lives in The Commons and his cousin and uncle want to move to a city called Gilden. The reason why it’s a problem is because Raffa wants to go to Gilden with his uncle and cousin to be a better apothecary but his parents won’t let him.

An event that changes the direction of the story is when Raffa meets two girls named Trixen and Kuma because when he’s with Trixen they get arrested for trespassing. A big decision Raffa makes is when he decides to run away from The Commons and go to Gilden. When he got to this moment: “Raffa pictured himself arriving at Gilden on a morning ferry.”

I loved this book for many reasons. The writer did a good job of adding twists and turns, like when Raffa and Trixen got arrested. The characters were really funny, like how Echo (the bat) would say “skeeto, skeeto” when he was hungry for mosquitoes. The places seemed very real, like in the city Gilden where the people were very interesting. The kind of reader who would like this is a person with a big Imagination because in my opinion this is the best kind of fantasy. I rate this five stars.
