The Circuit Essay

Forgiving is something that not all people have mastered. It’s very hard to forgive someone after they have done something to hurt you even if it was by accident. People are not always aware of what they’re doing but that doesn’t mean that it can’t be hurtful or hard. While some people have a very easy time forgiving others don’t and fall apart in hard situations. Francisco (from the book “The Circuit by Francisco Jimenez”) is a person who doesn’t have a hard time forgiving. I think Francisco forgives really easily even though he gets hurt in hard ways.?

One example of Francisco forgiving is when Francisco’s little sister trades the pennies that his friend and father gave him for gum he gets mad. Francisco has been collecting pennies from everywhere, one day his best friend gives him an Indian head penny from 1865 so you can see why he would be mad at his sister for putting them in a gumball machine. When he is still mad at his sister mama sees that it’s her turn to step in: Pg 106: “Mama’s story calmed me down a little.” This connected to the thesis because it means that even though his sister did something kinda mean he still forgave her. As you can see mama.

Another example of Francisco forgiving really easily when he gets hurt in hard ways is when mama got what she wanted for Christmas and that stopped Francisco from getting what he wanted. Francisco had been wanting a ball for Christmas so he could play with all of his friends and one day a couple came to their to sell Francisco’s family a handkerchief. Mama loved it so much but didn’t have the money to buy it. Later papa got the handkerchief for mama. The family only had enough money for what mama wanted so Francisco didn’t get his ball. P.g. 56 “Searching for words to tell mama how I felt, I looked up at her, her eyes were full of tears. Papa who was sitting next to her on the mattress lifted its corner and pulled out from underneath the white embroidered handkerchief.” Still Francisco didn’t hold a grudge. This quote connects with the thesis because at first Francisco was mad because he didn’t get what he wanted but when he sees that mama was happy he decided not to complain.

The last example of my thesis is when a boy at Francisco school named Curtis beat Francisco up he still gave Curtis a picture. Francisco was cold at recess so his teacher gave him a jacket from the lost and found. Curtis claimed that the jacket belonged to him and started punching Francisco. A few days later Francisco won the art blue ribbon in his class for the art project and Curtis said he liked the picture. Francisco gave it to him. Pg 22 “ I did not understand what he was saying but I knew it had something to do with the jacket because he began to pull on it, trying to take it of off me.”. Pg 26 “ It’s yours I repeated, handing it to Curtis.”. This has to do with my thesis because Francisco got hurt by a kid but he still found it in his heart to give Curtis a really nice picture that he had worked hard on.

In “The Circuit” by Francisco Jimenez, Francisco forgives easily even though he gets hurt in hard ways. From putting pennies in a gumball machine too not getting what he wanted for Christmas too making an enemy a friend we learned that Francisco is a forgiving person. What I find in real life is that not a lot of people are like Francisco. Mostly because we’re human beings and we get hurt both physically and emotionally.
