Hi I Am Joe

 

Hi, my name is Joe and I am 12.5 years old. I used to be kind of a trouble maker. And one time I made a decision that changed my life and I’m going to tell you it. Ok ready? One day in March I… WAIT!!! Before I tell you this you have to promise you will do this if you do something bad. And you will fix it like I did. Ok so one day in march my old pal texted me and said he was in town and wanted to hang. So I said great how about Saturday at around two PM. He said awesome. Today is wednesday and I could not wait until saturday. Pause this. Now I am going to fast forward to saturday morning. Action.

When I woke up saturday morning lying in my bed. I was so excited to see him and to trash the basketball court with paint and glue. Oh no, what am I going to do I totally forgot I was grounded. So when I go to say hi to my mom I try to act like it is a normal saturday morning. But sadly she says Joe remember you can’t see Jared today. So I say i’m going to go get more sleep. Pause. I’m not going to get more sleep. Action.

Uhhhh what am I going to do. I need to think of a plan. First I need to go text Jared. I texted him. I was really nervous and then he said, “you better think of a plan.” So I think for a long time and finally I think of something. I am going to sneak out of the house and make all these recordings to make it sound like I am sleeping for my mom. So once I did that I have to think of when I go. And I think I have the perfect time because my mom leaves for her book club in an hour. And I will leave then.

 

So I have everything I need. I have the paint and the glue. We are going to meet outside of the gym. When I got there I was looking all around for him. Finally I see him. I yelled, “Jared!!!” I ran to him and said, “What’s up. It’s been forever since I have last seen you. do you want to go get some lunch before we do this?” I said.

 

He agreed so we went to this amazing restaurant called “La Bana.” It is a french restaurant. After it was time. I was so excited/nervous. Ready set Go!!!

 

“This was awesome!!!” I said as paint and glue splattered all over me. “I know this is the most fun thing I have ever done in my life!!!” he said screaming from the top of his lungs. “Doesn’t the court look so much better now. It looks like a person with a tail. Plus now the grip is even better,” I said laughing. “Hahaha,” He said giggling.

“Now the court looks like it’s barfing a rainbow,” I said thinking of doing that myself. “Should we add some dirt from outside?” I asked really wanting to do this.

“Sure” I said, “The messier the better.” So we went outside with our buckets and filled them up with dirt. We even got some worms with the dirt. So I turned around and saw a kid stuck in the glue/paint.

 

We were laughing so hard we almost fell in it together. I was about to take a picture of the kid and post it. Then thought for a second. I told Jared that maybe we should help the kid out then clean this up. He said “sure” with a little frown on his face. So we got the kid out of the mess apologized to him and he said “it’s ok. I am also kind of a troublemaker. How about I help you guys clean up then we chat for a bit.”

we said “great” happy we had some extra help. So after we cleaned up we chatted with the kid. His name is Pablo. He seemed nice so we had lunch with him. And then we all became best friends. PS his mom still caught him.

                                                                          The Circuit Essay

It is very important to have kindness and forgiveness no matter what your situation is. When you forgive people and show kindness it all comes back your way. Francisco is a strong and loving person. He can get through a lot of things. I think Francisco is a really good person. In The Circuit by Francisco Jimenez, even though Francisco’s family is not rich with money they are rich with love, forgiveness, and kindness.

Francisco’s family can’t afford to buy him a coat so the principal gives him a coat from the lost and found. His family could not afford to buy him a coat but francisco did not get down. But that was curtis’s coat so he beats him up. Francisco makes a picture that Curtis really likes. “It’s yours handing the drawing to Curtis.” (pg 26) Francisco forgave him by giving him his drawing because Francisco didn’t do anything. All he did was use a jacket that the principal gave him. It wasn’t Francisco’s fault at all.

Francisco loved to collect coins. And one day Francisco’s sister took his coins and used them. One of Francisco’s favorite things to do was collect coins and his sister ruined it. She once asked to have one of his coins. But Francisco said no. Soon after he forgave her. “I took a deep breath and went back inside to our room.”(pg 108)  Francisco forgave his sister even though he was still mad at her.

It’s the end of school year. Everyone is excited. Except Francisco. People are going on trips and going to camp. Francisco is doing his normal routine. Farming and moving. For Francisco summers are the worst but he stays positive. Imagine spending your summer picking crops. Literally everybody loved the summer except for Francisco. “Everybody was excited except for me.” This connects because Francisco is staying positive and happy. A lot of people would be complaining.

Francisco’s family may be poor but they are rich with love, kindness, and forgiveness. Francisco forgave Curtis when Curtis beat up and Francisco and gave him a painting. Francisco forgave his sister when she used his coins, and Francisco stayed positive when he had to stay home when all the other kids in his class were going away for summer break. For Francisco money is not happiness, love is happiness. People think money is happiness but our president has a lot of money and he is not happy.
