Now you may not think of New York as a polluted city. In fact, now it really isn’t. There have been sightings of dolphins in the Hudson River and that must mean something. Though, before around the 70s, New York was pretty bad. You could feel the air and sometimes it would rain ash! This was due to many incineration plants and also the way we produced energy, coal and oil. We were also destroying wildlife by dumping ash into the oceans. Though, what we think of New York now was started when the EPA was founded. As you know Trump does not believe global warming is… real. Also, he is planning budget cuts for the EPA. He is planning to stop laws that protect waterways and also laws on using fossil-fuel to make energy. This is one of the largest contributors to global warming. Trump doing this does not necessarily put New York in the same situation it was back in the 60s, but it will start undoing what the EPA was made for. Hopefully the EPA will win this “battle” against Trump (even if it isn’t likely) so we can keep seeing dolphins in the Hudson River!! Finally this article relates to us because this is our city and it is our job to keep it clean so we can stop global warming which in turn helps the rest of the world. We will like living in this city if it is not polluted better than if it was. Would you like to have ash snowflakes while walking t school? Or would you like to have a chance of dying one day because, you had to breathe?
