Respiratory System Blog Post

In science Matias, Charlie and I are studying the respiratory system, and in class we are supposed to make a blog post so here it is.

Above is a cool picture of the respiratory system.

The overall function of the respiratory system is to breathe in O2 and get CO2 out of our body. The veins carry the oxygenated blood to the heart while the arteries carry the CO2 to the lungs.

Here are some question:

  1. How much oxygen does the average person’s body take in a day and how much CO2 does the average person’s body release a day?
  2. What is the minimum amount of O2 that the average body can take in to survive?

here are some fun facts about the respiratory system:

  • The total length of the airways running through the two lungs is 1,500 miles or 2,400 kilometers.
  • Veins have epithelial cells for protection and so it doesn’t lose any blood as it is transporting it to the heart.
  • The largest arterial trunk is the aorta.
