Imagine the Future

“When you were in lower school, what was something that you were excited about for fifth grade? How do you feel about it now that you’ve done it?

 

What was something about fifth grade that you were a little nervous or worried about? How do you feel about it now?

 

What is something about which you are still a little nervous or worried? What might you do to feel a little less nervous or worried?

 

What is something that you haven’t done yet in middle school about which you are excited? What are you excited about it?”

 

I was excited about being a class rep and I feel really great about it. I am proud of myself for running. I was worried about how much homework we would get and that everything would be very overwhelming  but now it doesn’t seem like to much. I don’t really feel that worried about anything. After starting middle school, I don’t feel that worried.  I am really excited about spirit week because we get to do all kinds of crazy outfits.

 

Population Graphing

In math, we are working on graphing the population of the world since 1oo,ooo BCE. This is a picture of my graph. Ana just told us that the population at 8,ooo    IMG_1916BCE was 5,ooo,ooo. That’s so little! I mostly just guessed for some of them because Ana didn’t tell us. I had a lot of trouble figuring out what to skip count by. Thank you and goodbye.

Social Studies Project

On Friday, in social studies, we were given a pile of index cards. They had events from The History Of The World In 2 hours written on them and we were told to put them in chronologic order. My group knew approximately around what time most of the cards were but we couldn’t figure out which came first specifically. We learned that bony fish came before the Permian Extinction because they would have to if they were gong to evolve into land animals and then die out to make room for us. (Some people were unclear on that subject.) Here is a photo of what we did.photo

Atom

Screen shot 2014-10-08 at 7.14.09 PMToday in science class we designed atoms. (Or what we thought were atoms.) I did this because all of the different with cells in the atoms. Also, it is colored black because I would have thought it would be clear.

Mix and match graphing

Today in math class we did a graphing activity. Here are some things I noticed:

One of the graphs goes straight up. That is impossible because none of the stories were, “Walk all the way.”

Two of the graphs didn’t start at the bottom of the graph. That wouldn’t work because you can’t skip to the fifth meter.

One didn’t have lines in between the dot. This time the dots should be connected because you are taking steps in each meter and not teleporting from one to the next.
