Homesick

I sat in my seat at school waiting for the day to be over. When I looked at the clock, it was 3:00 and school was over. I jumped off my seat and got in line. I found Oni downstairs waiting to get picked up . I said, “I can’t wait till the sleepover officially starts.”When we got picked up we walked to the train and started reading. We loved graphic novels so we read a couple. When we were ready to get off the train we hurried and put the books away and we started walking to Onis house. When we got to Oni’s house we got inside and a dog sprung out of the door. It was Oni’s sister’s dog Gizmo. He was a Japanese Chin and he had a curled tail. When he started barking Oni told me to tell him no but he was just too cute.  Oni brought him upstairs to her bedroom and put him on one of the bean bags.

Oni and I didn’t know what to do for the evening, so we just watched a movie called the Secret of the Kells. During the movie Gizmo fell asleep and Oni and I went up on her loft bed. Oni started to show me her plush toys. She had so many toys and they were all animals. Then I had an idea. Oni and I got string and then we tied string to the toys and then we dangled them from the loft bed to the bottom of the floor and did a puppet show. We accidently hit Gizmo and then he woke up and went out of the room. We had so much fun doing the puppet show for ourselves that we decided to do a puppet show for Oni’s family. When we were done rehearsing we called Oni’s mom, dad, and sister up and then we gave them a puppet show. When the puppet show was done Oni’s mom called us down for dinner. We had pasta and soup and we finished it extra fast so we could go back up and play again. When we got upstairs we didn’t know what to do so we talked about when we first met and how we got along. We remembered when I used to sit in the box alone on the roof and Oni came to invite me over to play. We loved to play tag with each other ever since. We also remembered when we were studying different kinds of birds and Oni and I were obsessed with birds all year of kindergarten and our teacher was Elizabeth.

After we were done talking about the past we got ready to go to bed. We put our pajamas on and brushed our teeth and then I felt a little homesick. This was my third sleepover at a new school, and kindergarten was my first year and this was in first grade. I wasn’t used to sleepovers yet. When we were all ready for bed and went up the loft my tummy felt like it had lots of butterflies in my stomach. I didn’t want to tell Oni because I was afraid it would make her feel bad. I really wanted to go home and I would feel a lot better. But then, I just thought that it was night time and it will be morning if I go to sleep, so I stayed up for a while and then I started to go to sleep really slowly, then I fell right to sleep…..

Finally it was morning and today was the day when I was going home. Oni and me went downstairs and we smelled breakfast. For breakfast we had pancakes and orange juice and we were talking about how much fun we had yesterday and what we were going to do today. When we were done with breakfast we went upstairs and started to play with the toys. We grabbed all the toys up on the loft, took of the sheet of the bed, and tied them from one bed to another bed. We put all the toys in the sheet and pretended it was a ride for the toys.

After we started watching videos on Onis computer and we were having lots of fun.Then suddenly we heard the bell ring. It was my mom ready to pick me up to go home. I didn’t want to go home and Oni helped me try to hide from my mom but it didn’t work so we went down stairs and I said bye to Oni and I wanted to have another sleepover again but stay up all night and talk to oni.
